Tyesha Wood

Gila River Police Department Criminal Investigations
Tyesha M. Wood has worked in law enforcement since 2001, beginning that work with Salt
River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale, Arizona. Tyesha worked with Salt River
Police Department for 12 years as a Patrol Officer and then as a Detective assigned to the
Professional Standards Bureau, Training/Hiring Unit and Criminal Investigations Division.
Tyesha relocated to her homeland in the Navajo Nation to accept a position as a Navajo
Executive Protection Agent for the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President in
2013. Tyesha worked with the Navajo Nation for two years before returning to Southern Arizona
to work with the Gila River Indian Community Police Department in Sacaton. She is currently a
Detective assigned to the Sex Crimes Unit of Gila River Police Department Criminal
Investigations, which investigates sex crimes for adults and crimes against children.
Tyesha received her BA in Sociology from the University of Arizona. She is a member of the
Navajo Nation and is of the Totsohnii (Big Water People) Clan and born for the Dibe Lizhini
(Black Sheep People) Clan.
